Automated line to be installed in Ice Industries’ existing facility in Monterrey.
SYLVANIA, Ohio – October 2, 2009 – Ice Industries, a leading metal stamping, welding and assembly company, announced that it has purchased air tank manufacturing assets from Truck Equipment Manufacturing Company located in Charlotte, North Carolina; and from Quest Mfg. located in Springfield, Missouri. Ice is relocating and installing these assets in its existing Monterrey, Mexico location.
These automated, rolled, and welded tank manufacturing lines will be capable of making both steel and aluminum tanks of various sizes, producing low, medium, and high volumes for the heavy truck and off-highway markets. Ice Industries will also be capable of delivering painted tanks of various sizes upon completion of the installation, targeted for December of 2009. Diameters will begin at 5” with lengths to 60" and thicknesses to 3/8th".
As additional heavy truck production continues to shift to Mexico and the Southern US, Ice Industries is anticipating increasing demand for air tanks manufactured in Mexico for the NAFTA region. The addition of this new line to its existing hydraulic and mechanical press assets will enhance its offerings with braking air tanks, purge tanks, and dryer reservoirs.
Ice Industries currently manufactures HVAC industry compressor components and fire extinguisher cylinders in its Monterrey, Mexico facility.
"Ice has a heritage of pressure vessel competencies producing products that require exacting quality standards, manufacturing processes, welding, and leak testing," said Paul Bishop, Ice’s President.
"Ice entered the heavy truck market initially with its 2008 acquisition of Ronfeldt Manufacturing, which manufactures hydraulically deep drawn filter canisters. We have expanded our reach by manufacturing heavy duty oil pans for this market as well. Adding heavy duty air tank capabilities was a natural extension of Ice’s pressure vessel capabilities," added Howard Ice, Ice Industries’ founder and CEO.
